Annual CITO weeks

Imagem

We hear it all the time, “Geocachers are the nicest people!”
It’s a wonderful compliment that good-hearted geocachers have earned for over a decade.
Cache In Trash Out (CITO) weekend is just another example of geocachers giving back.
Since 2002, tens of thousands of geocachers have cleaned up parks, trails and other geocaching-friendly destinations.
Geocachers plan CITO events year round, but one weekend each year the global geocaching community unites to cleanup tons of trash together.

The 11th Annual CITO weekend is scheduled for April 20 and 21, 2013.
There will be hundreds of events to attend in dozens of countries, but if there’s not one in your area, it’s time to gather your friends and create your own CITO Event.
Be sure to check the CITO Event calendar for gatherings near you.

Those attending CITO Events on April 20 or April 21 (or both!) will earn a 2013 CITO Souvenir for their Geocaching profile.

Thanks for keeping the geocaching a community one of the nicest groups of people out there!

It's not always the find that brings the smiley... Imagem
It's not about the number you've found.
It's about the fun you had along the way.

The only numbers that matter are the friends you make!
It's all about the journey, the challenge, and enjoying the outdoors!

Will You CITO?

Celebrate Geocaching by Cleaning Up at a CITO Event

Geocachers will demonstrate their commitment to the environment by the bagful in April.
Thousands of geocachers will join together in picking up trash and filling garbage bags with litter.
They’ll be attending Cache In Trash Out (CITO) events over the 11th Annual International CITO Weekend.
It’s scheduled for April 20, 21 and 22. Tons of trash will be removed from geocaching-friendly locations.
It’s easy to join the global community by attending one of the many CITO events.
With hundreds of CITO Events in dozens of countries, there’s sure to be one near you.
If there isn’t a CITO event near you, there’s still time to create your own CITO event.

Those attending CITO Events on April 20, 21 or April 22 (or all three!) will earn a 2013 CITO souvenir for their Geocaching profile.

Join a Worldwide Geocaching Movement

Imagem

Geocachers search parks, trails and forests to earn a smiley, but during a Cache In Trash Out (CITO) event they’re not looking for geocaches.
They’re clearing litter and trash from geocaching-friendly areas around the world.
Thousands of geocachers will walk away from their CITO events with bags of trash and a sense of pride.
They’re preserving the natural beauty of our world.
It’s often more than litter clean up. Some CITO events remove of invasive species, plant trees or build trails.

You can be a part of the movement.
CITO events are held all year long, but you’ll have more than 140 to choose from on April 20, 21 and 22.
It’s the 11th annual International CITO Weekend coinciding with Earth Day.

This year, more than a thousand geocachers from at least 30 countries are combining in the annual worldwide environmental effort.
The locations range from Croatia to Hong Kong and include more than 40 U.S. States.

CITO Weekend 2015 is April 25 and 26

Imagem

CITO weekend will be here before you know it.
In case you haven’t heard, CITO stands for Cache In Trash Out.
It’s the geocacher’s approach to keeping our game board (i.e. the entire planet) in great shape.
On the weekend of April 25 and 26, geocachers around the globe will gather together, pick up trash, remove invasive species, repair trails and more—plus earn a pretty sweet new souvenir.

Pick up a CITO Event Kit from Shop Geocaching and start planning your CITO weekend event now.
All events must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event date—but earlier is always better.
Check out the CITO FAQ to learn more.
You can also see a list of CITO events already happening around you.

Re: Annual CITO weeks

CITO weeks 2016: 16 to 24 April & 17 to 25 September

Imagem

Cache In Trash Out® events bring geocachers together to care for the geocaching game board: planet Earth.
CITO events might focus on tree planting, litter pick up, or even habitat restoration.
They’re a chance for geocachers to give back to their local spaces and communities.

This year you’ll have two opportunities to earn special CITO 2016 souvenirs by attending CITO events during the 14th Annual Cache In Trash Out Weeks: April 16 – 24 and September 17 – 25, 2016.

Re: Annual CITO weeks

Imagine you are out in the middle of the woods. Sunlight shimmers through the trees and you feel a breeze brush past you.
In this peaceful moment, you think about the explorers who have stood in the place where you now stand.

Geocaching connects explorers — past, present and future — in shared experiences of wonder and delight.
But it’s important to remember that these experiences only exist because of the beautiful and interesting planet that is geocaching’s game board.

Since the early days of the game, geocachers have joined together in an environmental initiative called Cache In Trash Out®.
Over the years, our community has given back to the environment by planting trees, cleaning up trash, restoring natural habitats and more.

Your chance to get involved is almost here!
The 14th Annual CITO Week begins this Saturday, and runs from April 16 – 24.
